Notice Regarding the Use of Polypropylene Single-Handed Weapons
Sir Stephen Grandchamp, Kingdom Earl Marshal of the East, sends greetings!
As of May, 30, 2012, polypropylene will not be allowed as an alternative material to be used in the construction of single handed weapons in the East Kingdom. All hafts and blades of these weapons will be constructed solely of rattan. All other construction details will continue to be as directed by Society Standards for the construction of single-handed weapons. An Experimental period of approximately six months will begin to determine possible future changes to this ruling.
If you are interested in experimenting with the 1.25” polypropylene material described in the Society Earl Marshals recent ruling, you may contact me, Sir Stephen Grandchamp, KEM East, with your proposals.
Specific to Pennsic 41
Polypropylene will not be allowed as an alternative material to be used in the construction of single handed weapons for use at Pennsic 41. All hafts and blades of these weapons will be constructed solely of rattan. All other construction details will continue to be as directed by Society Standards for the construction of single-handed weapons.
